Paid messages are direct messages with content locked behind a price: the fan pays once to open what is inside. For many established creators they are the biggest income source after subscriptions, because one interested fan can spend far more than the monthly fee. Here is how to make them sell without wearing out your audience.
What a paid message is
A paid message, also called a PPV message, is a DM with attached content that stays blurred or hidden until the fan pays. It can hold:
- a photo or a photo set,
- a video,
- an audio clip, such as a personal voice message,
- text.
You can send one to a single fan, as part of a conversation, or to a group as a mass message. Personal, one-to-one paid messages usually sell best, because they arrive after a conversation that built interest.
What makes a paid message sell
- Exclusivity. The content should not be available on your feed or your other socials. If a fan finds it elsewhere, they will not buy from you twice.
- Quality. Good light, a clean background, clear sound. Fans paying extra notice when something was rushed.
- A consistent style. A recognisable look and tone makes your content feel like yours, not generic.
- A story. A line of context ("Shot this on the last morning of the trip") makes a piece more interesting than the same piece with no caption.
- Timing. Offer it when the conversation is warm, not as the opening line.
Previews that convert
The preview is the sales page. Make it honest and appealing.
- Show the real tone. A cropped or blurred frame from the actual content, not a different, better shot.
- State what is inside: "8 photos" or "3 min video". Specifics build trust.
- Tease on the feed. A free post that hints at a set is a natural lead-in to a paid message about it.
- Keep it short. One line of caption and a clear price.
A preview that oversells wins one sale and loses the buyer. A preview that matches the content earns repeat buyers.
How to set one up
On OnlyFans, the flow is roughly:
- Open Messages and start a new message, either in a fan's chat or as a mass message.
- Attach the content: photos, a video, audio or text.
- Set the price with the price option on the message. The platform has its own minimum and maximum; check the current limits in the price field.
- Preview, then send. The content stays locked until the fan pays.
If you run several creators or a chatting team, keep ready-to-send content organised in Vault Pro (/growth/vault-pro) in Inflowwww, schedule group sends from Smart Messages (/growth/smart-messages), and send one-to-one offers from the thread in Messages Pro (/messages-pro).
Promote that you offer them
Fans cannot buy what they do not know exists.
- Mention paid messages in your bio, along with what kinds of content you send.
- Use your other socials to tease the kind of content subscribers can get, within each platform's own rules.
- Pin a short price menu to your profile so fans know what to ask for.
- Cross-promote with creators in your niche, so their audience hears about you.
Price with data, not hope
Start with a few tiers and let the numbers decide.
- Entry: short clips or a few photos, priced as an easy yes.
- Standard: full sets or longer videos.
- Premium: long or highly exclusive pieces, offered to your most engaged fans.
Every couple of weeks, look at which price points get opened and by whom. The Message dashboard (/analytics/message-dashboard) logs PPVs, tips and messages, and Fan reports (/analytics/fan-reports) show who buys. Drop the formats nobody opens, and raise prices slowly on the ones that always sell.
The goal is a fan who buys again next week, not one who buys once and unsubscribes.
The pitch. Your best content belongs behind a price you set, and Inflowwww's Vault Pro and Messages Pro help a team send it, on your own server. Deploy it yourself.
