Is Reddit worth it for promoting adult content? A cost-benefit method

Reddit offers precise niche targeting and allows adult content, but costs real time. A simple method to decide if it is worth it, using your own numbers.

Straight advice

Written in reply to “The truth about advertising Spicy content on Reddit” (infloww.com, published Jul 26, 2024; their page stamped Oct 10, 2026). The advice here is sincere; any joke is in the closing box. Inflowwww is not affiliated with Infloww.

Short answer: Reddit is worth it for some creators and not for others, and the only reliable way to know which you are is to measure it. It targets niches better than any other platform and allows adult content, but it asks for daily participation and careful rule-following in every community. Here is how to weigh it.

What Reddit does well

  • Niche targeting. Communities are already sorted by interest, style and genre. If your niche is specific, there is probably a subreddit full of the exact people who would enjoy your work.
  • Adult content is allowed in communities that permit it, when labelled NSFW. You can show previews directly to an interested audience.
  • Links are often allowed on your profile or in posts, depending on the subreddit.
  • Posts can keep working. Popular posts can bring profile visits for days, and your profile collects your history.
  • It is a solid second channel. Creators who rely on one platform are exposed when that platform changes its algorithm. Reddit is a different kind of traffic.

What it costs

  • Time. Research, verification, participation, posting and replying add up. Many creators find it one of the most time-intensive channels.
  • Competition in general communities. Large adult subreddits move fast; posts can disappear in minutes. Smaller niche communities are slower but steadier.
  • Rules everywhere. Karma thresholds, verification, posting limits and title formats differ per subreddit, and volunteers enforce them.
  • Exposure of previews. Images posted publicly can be reposted elsewhere. Watermark, post lower resolution, and keep explicit material on OnlyFans. Safe-for-work creators can use SFW subreddits for their hobbies and style.
  • Viral spikes are rarer. A viral short video on another platform can bring a sudden wave; Reddit tends to bring a steadier trickle.

A four-week test to decide

Don't decide from other people's stories. Run your own test.

  1. Set up properly (NSFW-marked profile, pinned posts, verification in your target subreddits). See our checklist post.
  2. Use a Reddit-only tracking link on your profile. If you run Inflowwww, make it in Tracking links (/growth/tracking-links).
  3. Log your time. Every Reddit session, note the minutes spent. Be honest.
  4. Post consistently for four weeks in 10 to 20 matched communities, following each one's rules.
  5. Do the same for one other channel (X, for example) with its own tracking link and time log.

Do the maths

At the end of four weeks, for each channel:

  • Subscribers from its tracking link.
  • Hours spent.
  • Subscribers per hour = subscribers ÷ hours.
  • Retention: of those subscribers, how many renewed after the first month? Check in your OnlyFans statistics. If you run Inflowwww, Analytics > Creator reports (/analytics/creator-reports) and Fan reports (/analytics/fan-reports) help.

Then decide:

  • Reddit wins or ties: keep it, and drop the weakest subreddits to save time.
  • Reddit is lower but its fans renew better: keep a smaller version focused on the best communities.
  • Reddit loses clearly: cut it back to a few posts a week in your top two subreddits, or stop and put the hours into what works.

Make it cheaper if you keep it

  • Batch: prepare a week of previews and titles in one session.
  • Keep a rules sheet per subreddit so you never re-read rules or break them by accident.
  • Prune monthly: drop communities that bring nothing; add two new candidates.
  • Delegate carefully: if an agency or assistant posts for you, the account and the decisions stay yours. Share access the way Reddit allows, and never share the account password.

The pitch. Inflowwww's Tracking links put the subscribers Reddit sends in a database you own, next to the hours you spent. Deploy it yourself.

Deploying it yourself means installing it once on a server you rent; after that, everyone works in a browser.

After the one-time setup (docker network create n8n_default, the state files and an .env), this is the install. Docker Engine 25+ with Compose 2.20+.

docker compose up -d --build

Before chatters reach it from outside, read the security notes: today it belongs on a private network or a VPN, not on the open internet.

Using it on a live OnlyFans account may violate OnlyFans' Terms of Service; the risk sits with the creator's account. Read the disclaimer first.
